I’m not afraid of being investigated - Dino Melaye

Embattled Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) has said he is not afraid of being investigated by the police or any other security agency.

He, however, alleged plots by the Kogi State Police Command to frame him on trump up charges, arrest, detain and ensure that he is murdered in detention.

A march 20 five-page letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), signed by his lawyer, Rickey Tarfa (SAN), wants the police high command to set up a neutral investigation team, led by trusted officers in Abuja, to investigate the issues for which he was being invited to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

The letter said they were afraid for Melaye’s safety in Kogi, noting that his presence may also lead to a breakdown of law and order.

The police threatened to declare Meleye wanted if he fails to appear before a Federal High Court in Lokoja, on March 28, to answer criminal charges against him.

He drew the attention of the IGP to an alleged attempt to abduct him on March 1 and his several reports of attempts on his life.

The letter reads: “Our client told us that the intention was to abduct him and take him to Kogi State, where he would be at the mercy of the governor, and where plans had been perfected and were being implemented to frame him on spurious charges, arrest and detain him, and then murder him in prison while he is awaiting trial.

“It is noteworthy that our client has severally stated in the media that he is aware of this nefarious plan and the involvement of the Kogi State Police Command in implementing same. The sheer number of armed policemen and security personnel deployed from Kogi State on March 1, to abduct our client from the FCT High Court premises, gives credence to his fears.

“Sir, as the chief law enforcement officer of the country, we urge you to intervene in this circumstance. It is obvious there is no plausible reason for our client to believe that his personal safety is guaranteed in the hands of the police in Kogi.

“After the court hearing of March 1, and the attempted kidnap, the police exchanged correspondences with the Senate leadership over an invitation to our client. It is evident from the letters, dated March 8, that our client’s presence in Kogi State will put him in danger. It may also lead to a breakdown of law and order, going by the governor’s antecedents.

“The letter, therefore, advises that the issues for which the invitation was sent be investigated in Abuja. We believe this would be the reasonable option in the circumstance, and suggest that a neutral team be set up by your office to investigate the issues.

“Our client is not averse to being investigated for any charges brought against him. The fact that our client is accused of being a gun runner is extremely suspicious and with due respect, smacks of a set up.”

“Sir, we urge for your urgent intervention in this matter. As we have said, our client, convinced of his innocence, is ready to submit himself for investigation and to answer any charge against his person, but by police officers whose neutrality he is confident of.

“Our client will not and cannot run from justice, but balks at being delivered directly into the hands of people who have made public threats against his person.”

2019: Obasanjo, IBB’s letters can’t stop Buhari, APC –Tinubu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, yesterday declared that no amount of letters by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, will stop President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections. The former governor, who made the call in Lagos, while speaking at the colloquium to mark his 66th birthday, called on Nigerians not to allow the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to power.

“Thank you Nigerians for being patient with us; but there is a clear understanding here that the difference between us and them is like day and night. My grandmother used to ask me to write letters to her. Somebody is writing letters now, letter of politics these days as if they have not been there before. Bad belle letters!” the former governor said.

Tinubu, who opted to speak extempore instead of his prepared speech titled: “Investing in people: A more accurate perspective,” expressed confidence that the Buhari-led administration will bring back the country’s lost glory, while standard of living would be enhanced with the investment of the nation’s resources on the people.

Obasanjo had, in January, told Buhari to go home and rest instead of contesting the 2019 presidential election. He also advised the President not to overpush his luck or over-tax the patience and tolerance of Nigerians “no matter what his self-serving, socalled advisers, who would claim that they love him more that God loves him, would say.”

In a special statement titled “The way out: A clarion call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement,” the former president added that Buhari has already given his best and should consider a deserved rest instead of running for presidency again. Babangida, who also insisted that President Buhari must leave office in 2019, urged Nigerians to cooperate with him to complete his term of office on May 29, 2019 and collectively prepare the way for a new generation of leaders to assume the mantle of leadership of the country. In a statement titled “Towards a national rebirth,” the former Military President also expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the APC-led Federal Government.

But, Tinubu, who faulted the former leaders, said in spite of the obvious challenges confronting the country, there is a clear difference between the present APC administration and past PDP governments. His words: “I have a prepared speech, but I am not going to dwell on that. Life is not without challenges.

Our logo is broom, we have to come together, you have a Nigeria focusing against terrorism, against corruption and to promote economic revival of the country. “We have faced challenges in the last three years. We came in with a lot of hope and enthusiasm as APC leaders. We gave our people hope; we believed in Nigeria and in ourselves, thinking we can change Nigeria for good and we are still going to do it. Life is nothing without challenges.

Our logo is broom bound together. This symbolizes a united Nigeria against terrorism, corruption and revival of the economy. “I can see what the government is doing with the little resources at its disposal. This has been demonstrated in practical terms. What’s the lesson to all Nigerians? Forget those parties; they won’come back.

We did not envisage that there would be so much challenges. So, we would report back to Nigerians about what we found on ground. We did not say that there would be no challenges, because even America is facing challenges. They have wasted our resources.

“I’m happy the President can change the course of the ship wreckage; the ship of this country that is headed in the wrong direction; to steer the ship back or anchor before redirecting it, which of course is ing of public resources. “Every time we talk about corruption, our opponents say, don’t talk about it; just do your own. We will talk about it. The reason why we must talk about it is that, we must let our people know that we cannot afford to go this way again.

“Never again should we allow the system where people steal the resources of this country and use them against the people. We as a party and government must show the difference between us and the party and government that destroyed the Nigerian economy.” Earlier in an opening address, Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, said the colloquium was another veritable roundtable for the generation of ideas by all stakeholders.

His words: “Look around you, there are only a few people that can match his unquestionable thirst to invest in people. It goes without any gainsaying that, I join numerous others seated here or outside, that have gained in the investment Asiwaju has made on people.

I am grateful for that. “His era as governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 showed the depth of his governance capacity. After his gubernatorial years, he has continued to show pivotal leadership, particularly on the national stage. It is not for nothing that he is acknowledged for his defining role in the emergence of a progressive political party in Nigeria.” Among eminent Nigerians who graced the event were Governors Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Umar Ganduje (Kano), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), AbdulFatahi Ahmed (Kwara), Muhammadu Badaru (Jigawa), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Muhammad Abubakar (Bauchi), Godwin Obaseki (Edo) and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Babachir Lawal. Others were Ministers of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu; Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Jim Ovia, Oba Otudeko and former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, among others.

Ladoja is a Sore Loser and I will Deal with Him if he Misbehaves - Gov. Ajimobi

Ladoja is a Sore Loser and I will Deal with Him if he Misbehaves - Gov. Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has warned that his administration would not tolerate any form of violence from Senator Rasheed Ladoja, the Accord Party governorship candidate who lost to him in last election, stressing that, the full weight of law would be used to deal with him if he misbehaves.
Ajimobi disclosed this today in Ibadan while briefing the press on the reported plan of the erstwhile governor to instigate violence in the state.
While warning against violence, Governor Ajimobi said “surprisingly, the Accord Party has been complaining that it would go to court. No problem. If you look at the results of the election and the conduct, it was the freest and fairest election ever held. Everybody said it, all his agents signed at the polling units. It is only at the final collation centre that they did not sign. Let him go to court,” he said.
It would be recalled that at a meeting with his party members on Tuesday, Senator Rashidi Ladoja was quoted to have threatened to let his party members loose if assaulted by fellow politicians.
“We brought peace and security to Oyo state. We established that in the state and we will not fold our arms and allow any individual to destroy it. Senator Ladoja’s administration was replete with violence. Some people are sore losers, some are very sportsmanly. If he says he will resort to violence as reported, we will not tolerate it. Oyo state is a state where nobody is above the law. If he has complaints, let him go to the police to complain.
“But if he says he wants to lead some people to resort to violence in the state, we will deal with him. We don’t want violence in Oyo state again. Nobody is too big for the law in Oyo state. Anyone who is so desperate that even when defeated, he is crying about his intention to cause problems, he should follow due process and should obey the law of the land. He is not too big to obey the law. I guarantee you, should anybody lead any group to cause violence, the law will take its full weight to deal with them, I assure them,” he said.
Going into the details of the election, the governor affirmed that the APC won fair and square adding, “If you look at the results of the election, APC had 25 per cent in 29 local governments. Other parties did not meet the statutory requirement of 25 per cent. Accord Party had only 17 per cent. We won across six political zones out of seven. Accord and Labour won one each. Where is the spread of Accord Party? He did not win in Oyo, Ogbomoso, Oke Ogun I & II, and Ibadan city zones. He did not even meet the statutory requirement. Let him go to court, we are waiting,” he said.

Girl Accidentally Send Unclad Pics Of Herself To Dad, Drama Follows

Look, people send unclad texts to their romantic interests: it’s like a fact of the social media age. When it goes wrong, it’s mortifying — though often quite entertaining — and that goes double when the drama is publicly documented on Twitter.
Meet Nyjah. She’s a college student. She’s been tweeting since 2009. She posts lots of selfies on Instagram, and occasionally shares “cute lil nu-die” pics with her man via text.
Yesterday, she apparently sent a unclad photo of herself to her father by accident.
What was not accidental was the documentation of the fallout on social media. Nyjah turned to Twitter for support, instantly converting a private matter into something for everyone to have a good, long gawk at.

      Acceptance.
Her daddy continued to call her and eventually showed up at her house. Nyjah’s normally active Twitter went ominously silent after tweeting a link to this Instagram video of dear ol’ dad walking up the driveway.
